One good turn deserves another.
There leaved a small village named Igbeyin adun. This name was coined as a result of the struggle the village went through before its independence was delivered.
After the independence, the village flourished in all ramifications. There was no day someone complain of food drought and neither was there a day a pregnant woman will not deliver safely, everything went on smoothly.
There came a day when the king of the village fell ill and was diagnosed of kidney failure and the only solution was to get a kidney donor. All the villagers were spoken to about the condition of the king and were all told the solution, but due to illiteracy no one could donate as a result of the fear of death after donor even after severe education about the kidney donation.
The chiefs and all the wealthy men in the society were begged to help the dying king but non could yield to the plead. The individual which was to be crowned after the death of the sick king was already rejoicing since failure to get a kidney to replace the damaged kidney of the king in seven days will lead to death as declared by the doctor.
He had started background preparations towards becoming the new king of Igbeyin adun, the wives of the sicked king were all tested if their kidney will be compatible with that of the king but non was compatible. The kidney of the grown up children of the sick king were all tested too but no result still.
It was five days already, two days left for the king to die, nobody to donate, many of the villagers had given up hope of the king living more than the 7th day. All had started preparing to crown new king after the death of the sick king.
The 6th day, nothing happened, nobody to still donate, all hope was finally lost, the awaiting news was to hear the death of the sick king.
Fortunately for the king an imbecile went to the doctor secretly to get himself tested, so far he was a rejected being in the society, he has been termed useless by majority of the people in the village, he thought that since his living body isn't useful its better for him to die, he felt that not allowing anybody to know about his plan(not even the king) will be suitable for him. He was duly tested and his kidney was compatible with that of the king. Operation was carried out and was successful. He told the doctor not to let anyone know about what transpired and he agreed.
In the night and early morning of the 6th and 7th day respectively the doctor secretly came with his team and picked the sick king to his hospital for the change of kidney and told the wives and children not to say anything to anybody about what happened that they had found a donor, so all did as if nothing happened.
On the 7th day, almost all the people in the village had gathered at the king's Palace to bid the sick king farewell, but all through that day till night no news of the king's whereabout so the villagers concluded that the king was dead. The king to be was already set to be crowned immediately after the death of the sick king is confirmed.
Unfortunately for the king-to-be, in the noon of the 8th day the king was brought back to the palace by the doctor and his team and everyone was amazed. They couldn't believe the king could be alive, they started asking each other who died in the village for the king to live, and they couldn't recall any recent death.
The doctor came out and confirmed to the people that the king was perfectly alright that they found a kidney donor which was responsible for the sound health of the king. The king was asked to make his statement and the first thing he did was to beg the doctor to tell him who the donor was and promised to reward the person handsomely.
The doctor could not turn the king's offer down since he knew about the king's prank, so he called on the imbecile who was also among the waiting crowd, everyone was amazed, they couldn't believe their sight, they were surprised that an imbecile could help the king and still leave.
Luckily for the imbecile the king just played prank on the villagers which only the imbecile passed, no kidney was removed from him rather than sleeping pills which was given to him.
The king announced to the crowed the prank he played on them, and so far it was a nobody that passed the test the king announced to the crowed that "since one good turn deserves another then I, the king of Igbeyin adun hereby give the only person that passed the prank half of my inheritance in appreciation of the love he has shown". All the villagers were dumbfounded at the pronouncement of the reward to the imbecile.
Immediately after that day the imbecile was the most sort after of all women in the village.
