My NYSC Experience - tolulope odusanya
Well, before i will say anything at all, i give glory, honor and adoration to God for His mercies that endureth in my life all through my stay in Benue State, to Him alone be all the glory.
I remembered while I was in school when I checked my state of deployment and I saw Benue State, it was like a dream, I was like BENUE!!! Didn't even know Benue is one of the 36 states in Nigeria because i never thought of it even by mistake.
On getting to the camp on the 4th of November, 2014, i was joyful @ first that i am part of those people who will serve the nation for a complete year.
But on getting 2 the camp, throughout d first 2 weeks I was just crying... reason being that 70% of those posted there are northerners, nah so so so hausa. I was just like God why am I posted here and i said to myself "why me"
... If not for my friend Bamise who encouraged me... I summoned courage and tried to enjoy d remaining 3rd week...
THE CAMP
NOW TO MY PPA
I was posted to Effiom community secondary school, Edumoga. That place ehn nah real village, I was like God why this village of all places. You know the reason? Because there are lot of challenges there.
Lemme mention few...NO WATER, BAD ROAD, NO NETWORK AT ALL( that is, no browsing let alone using my social messengers) , NO ELECTRICITY.. I was like how in hell am i gonna cope in such place. After all my personal condemnation of the village i was posted to, i got to change my perception due to their hospitality, love and care.
Yam wasn't a problem all through my stay and garri too was surplus as my students will even supply all those courtesy of their parents.
I didn't remember fetching water despite the scarcity since my students will fill my drum even before the water goes down. In short, i enjoyed my stay at Effiom with the other corpers posted there.
I attended a Methodist Church all through my stay in Effiom. I never believed i could stay in a church without musical instruments but i did afterall. My CDS experience was another beautiful moment in Effiom.
We fought, we laughed but at the end we were all happy to have mingled wt each oda.

But to cut d long story short, I just wanna bless d name of the lord because I know there is a reason I served and I can vouch every where that i am proud to serve in a village called EFFIOM.
