No Sales Person Is Lazy or Unprofessional

In this part of the country we find ourselves you need to know someone influential directly or indirectly to get to the top, if not, you must be among the lucky few.

Most people who fall in those two categories above look down on other sales men because they are in position by luck or through another influential person, they try to make it look like they did something rightly than others who are struggling it out day-in-day-out forgetting that the person they are looking down on might be better than them when it comes to ideas.

"It is not how far, but how well" neither is it by the book nor degree but by luck or influence here.

I have seen, read and heard many people who fall in those two categories feeling fly and trying to become a motivational preachers to those that don't even have anybody to help get a good lead or buy the product they sell.

Here, no matter how much you preach to someone who doesn't have a sure lead or who is not working with a firm that encourage growth, it will still be same result unless you wish to give the person a lead.

You preach relationship building forgetting that business differs, or how will you expect a gala seller in hold-up to start building relationship with people when he knows that he has less than 30sec with one vehicle out of the numerous vehicles moving along slowly?

How much relationship do you expect a financial institution worker to make with target of millions of naira in a month and also with commission determined by his/her sales when he/she has a lot of people to reach, or you have forgotten so soon that the reach matters too?

I have done several promotions/advertisements for companies, small businesses owners  through social media and it reached thousands of potential customers, however, it engaged with good numbers and those companies/business owners made their sales and profit while many others saw and just ignored. This is not to say those that saw and ignored are gone, another set of few do not have the resources to enjoy what is being promoted at that point, so they save the contact so as to reach the business when the resources is available.

Also, through others that did not even engage or save the contact, the business that is been promoted has gained more visibility and they can still be re-targeted as many might still need to see the advertised product/service more than once before they can take their decision. So far i am certain they are right target, it will go a long way. Current multinational firm i work for as social media consultant contacted me after my promotion ended, this is to tell you some will not engage immediately, but the reach increases the visibility and open you up for deals.

You can say the above analysis is for digital marketing, but trust me, this is same way physical marketing works because before i moved to social media marketing i was in the field even as a team lead and i am still in the field, so you wouldn't say i don't know what i am saying.

Most that are lucky to be in position are those that term sales people "unserious" because of the numerous advert of their product/service or even when you see personal message of their business just to get customers/clients when you can simply ignore if you are not interested rather than all sorts you say of them forgetting that your business or the organization you are working for cannot be successful without it being pushed outside through marketing. It is simple, if you cannot subscribe to their products/services or assist with sure lead, just  ignore and move on quietly instead of tarnishing their image for trying to survive rightly.

Well, it is certain you don't have the slightest idea of what the sales people go through, no experience of the hustle a bit, so you think you have several opinion of how it is done in your head.

Many don't just know how others feel with the struggle to make ends meet, but will sit down in one office typing or speaking anything that comes out of their fingers against the real hustlers.

Remember, the method of sales differs based on kind of product or service and term of contract, so don't think the method that works for someone in the food sector or that of groceries, fashion and the likes will work for someone in the financial field or even those of real estate or others that don't produce perishable goods.

No one is ready to listen because they already have a representative someone recommended to them from another competitor.

I know some will say "sell value", there is no value you want to sell that someone is not selling already to same person with the rate companies are recruiting marketers, you will even be shocked to know the person is using the same company you represent through another of your colleague. The few you will have left might not even have the resources to buy the value you are talking about, so what else!

Through that reach is how you will get the few that really needs your product/service who are totally free of any competitor for you to penetrate.

Sales goes beyond using fingers or voice, reach matters, so learn to deal with adverts, texts, mails, PMs of products/services by marketers, kindly ignore if you are not interested.

My advice: If you can't contain disappointments,   hanger, and if you cannot persevere, do not go into marketing. Reach as many UNIQUE people as you can, the best will come along the line.
